Call for Papers

The Journal of Social Change, sponsored by Walden University, is an online, refereed journal, published semi-annually, and devoted to theoretical advancement and applied research on social change that improves the human condition and progresses people, groups, organizations, cultures, and society toward a more positive future. We invite paper submissions from scholars, practitioners, and advanced graduate students who are working in the area of social change.

Our approach to social change is interdisciplinary and multicultural. Contributions are welcomed from any discipline or conceptual perspective, and may focus on any aspect of theory or research that relates to ideas and efforts to engender positive social change, and focuses on real-world applications of these ideas and efforts.

Examples of desirable submissions would include the following:

  • Extension, validation, or refutation of existing theories of social change and social development within the context of their relevance and applicability in organizational or social fields.
  • Attempts to build grounded theories of social change based on applied research or field investigation.
  • Research that employs social change theories in designing or redesigning social change initiatives, policies, plans, or efforts.
  • Studies on the application of theory-based interventions from another field that result in important social change outcomes and insights in a new field.
  • Critical reviews of social change research, programs, or theories that generate new insights for research and practice.
  • Translation of social change theories from one disciplinary field or context to another.

JSC seeks to bring theory and practice into focus and action on human problems at the individual, group, community, national, and international levels. We also welcome submissions that conceptualize social changes in terms of particular organizational or political structures, change or evolutionary processes, or socially constructive outcomes.
