Uncommon Vision and the Common Good

2006 Walden Conference on Social Change

October 20 – 21, 2006

Tremont Grand Hotel

Baltimore, Maryland

CALL FOR PAPERS AND PROPOSALS

Walden University seeks proposals from researchers, scholars and practitioners for competitive papers, interactive workshops, multimedia presentations, panels, and artistic performances for the 2006 Conference on Social Change, “Uncommon Vision and the Common Good.” The Conference will take place at the Tremont Grand hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, on Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21, 2006.

This annual conference highlights scholarship that informs actions which lead to positive social change.  Submissions are welcome in the fields of psychology, management, public policy, education, engineering, or health services.  This year we particularly invite papers and proposals that focus on the following social change themes:

  • The tension between the common good and individual rights and freedom.
  • Evolution or revolution in individuals, organizations, and systems, and how these forces create positive social change in the 21st century.
  • The dynamics of change that originate from within a system, and change that comes from outside the system.
  • The role of individuals with uncommon vision who have made a significant contribution to positive social change.

Conference sessions are scheduled for approximately 1.5 hours. Individuals selected to present will receive complimentary registration for the conference.

Submission Procedures

There are two separate submission processes for the conference, depending on whether you are submitting papers or session proposals.

1.      Academic papers must be submitted no later than June 1, 2006.  Submissions will undergo a peer review process, and selection is competitive.
